Funny thing about working with mud; the sketches tend to look as good as the real thing. Maybe even better sometimes. The "Open Wiiide" post featured a sketch of a larger, cylindrical firebox.
Working out some details before the mud.
First I fetched fresh dirt+hay and mixed a new batch of mud prior to building this cylinder. By the time it got this tall, I was weary of all that bending and stooping so this is tall enough for today. Needs a fire to dry it out a bit, eh? That's mostly water vapor over there on the right. Three air holes on the left and right sides seemed to work as planned. The fire moseyed through the oven with only a little backwash during the first couple of minutes.
