The first serious attempt to make the two rings level-ish and level-ish with each other. The mud was especially good this time. It has a certain odor, the mud, and that odor lingers on well after a good washing up with plain soap.
I guess this is the end of phase one. The top of the bell / bottom of the oven comes next. For that to happen I need to go back to town and get three dozen of the split firebricks. I already have the half-dozen steel fenceposts.
Detail showing the exhaust port. There's a bit of a gap in the ring of bricks on top. I had intended to build a viewport there but nothing suitable showed up to serve as a window so I reckon it's going to be filled in with mud, sticks and bricks. Tommy Boy has marked the Mudfire. Adding the mud to that "knee" section, extreme right, liberated his cat spray odor, to mix with the natural shite smell of the mud. Glad it was windy today. The flies are the kind that draw blood; I've killed a few, missed many.
I'm off to soak my hands in bleach now...
